I believe success in treatment is about more than simply reducing symptoms. It is about helping you feel more like yourself, reconnect with what matters to you, and move toward the life you want to live. My goal is to look beyond a diagnosis or individual symptom and take the time to understand you as a whole person, including your experiences, strengths, relationships, challenges, and hopes for the future.

My Approach to Care

The Challenge:
Starting psychiatric treatment can feel overwhelming. Patients and families may have
questions about whether medication is right for them, what to expect from treatment, orwhy a previous medication may not have worked as hoped.

My Approach:
I take a collaborative and individualized approach to medication management. I take the
time to understand each patients symptoms, experiences, treatment history, and
personal goals before developing a treatment plan. I believe patients and families
should feel informed, heard, and involved in decisions about their care. When
medication is recommended, I carefully consider the potential benefits, risks, and side
effects while monitoring progress and making adjustments when needed.

My Goal:
My goal is to help patients experience meaningful improvement in their symptoms and
feel better equipped to engage in the people, activities, and responsibilities that matter
most to them. I strive to make psychiatric care approachable, supportive, and focused
on meaningful, goal-oriented progress.
I believe success in treatment is not simply about reducing symptoms—it is about
helping people feel more like themselves and move toward the life they want to live.

My Philosophy:
"Treat the full picture, not just the diagnosis"

I believe the mind, body, and spirit are all connected, and each plays an important role
in our overall well-being. My goal is to look beyond a diagnosis or individual symptom
and understand the person as a whole. I believe effective psychiatric care means
considering the full picture of someone's life, experiences, functioning, relationships, and goals—not simply treating a list of symptoms.

Fun Facts About Me:

Outside of work, I love spending time with my friends and family and making memories
together. I am also a proud dog mom and enjoy spending time with my dog whenever I
can. I believe that meaningful relationships, connection, and making time for the things
that bring us joy are an important part of a balanced life.

Susan is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing psychiatric evaluation and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults ages 8 and up.

With 10 years of experience in emergency medicine, Susan has cared for individuals experiencing a wide range of medical and mental health concerns, including periods of significant stress and crisis. This experience has shaped her thoughtful and compassionate approach to psychiatric care and strengthened her understanding of the many ways mental and physical health can intersect.

Susan believes psychiatric care should be collaborative, individualized, and goal-oriented. She takes the time to understand each person’s unique experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals, recognizing that effective treatment begins with seeing the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms or a diagnosis.

She believes that patients should be active participants in their care. Together, Susan and each patient work to develop a thoughtful treatment plan that supports symptom improvement, day-to-day functioning, and overall quality of life. She also values the important role of psychotherapy and believes medication management can be a meaningful complement to therapy when appropriate.

At Wellbrook, Susan works collaboratively with patients and the broader care team to support an approach to mental health that is thoughtful, individualized, and centered on the person as a whole.
